Extraordinarily low input voltage noise

Peter Märki from the Nanophysics group of Prof. Ensslin at ETH Zurich has realized a differential amplifier with extraordinarily low input voltage noise.

The input voltage noise is in the range of 1nV/√Hz, which equals the thermal noise level of a 60Ω resistor at room temperature. The input current noise is in the range of 7fA/√Hz. The most similar commercially available amplifier we know is the LI-75A with 3 times the voltage noise and two times the current noise.
