ETH researchers around Tilman Esslinger have implemented in their experimental setup an idea for a new class of materials first proposed by the British physicist Duncan Haldane in 1988. In these systems, a quantized Hall effect appears despite the absence of a magnetic field. The key step for the realization was to place ultracold potassium atoms into a honeycomb lattice created by laser beams and shaken periodically on a circular trajectory.

We recommend to use public transportation to get to Arosa. Information on train departures and arrivals is given by the SBB online timetable.
At Chur you have to change to the Rhätische Bahn (RhB), which will bring you in 60 minutes to Arosa.
You have to purchase a normal ticket from your place to Arosa. You will be reimbursed a half-tax return ticket at the meeting.
The hotel is at 10 minutes walking distance from the station (map).
If you decide to go by car, a narrow winding road will take you from Chur in 45 minutes 1320 m up to Arosa. Information about traffic and road conditions is found in the Internet. About parking, please contact the hotel.
You have to check in at the hotel reception. All participants are registered and a list of room mates will be published here. Please be aware that this list may change until the beginning of the conference.
Meals are served in the hotel, on the basis of half board arrangement, including a lunch packet on Thursday and Friday. Please let the conference organization know if you prefer vegetarian food (✉)
